Opportunities & Registration
Opportunities
Wellsboro Art Club Members enjoy added benefits of participating in a range of activities. Annually, there is a members’ show at the Gmeiner. We are featured in the windows of the Deane Center January-November along with other local venues. Additionally, there are at least 3 vendor opportunities, a Plein Air Competition and community projects that we engage in.
These opportunities are either free to members or at a low cost. See the descriptions below of each opportunity and register your interest using the contact us form here.
Member Exhibits
The Deane Center
Between January and November, we exhibit selected members’ artwork in the Deane Center’s front windows. There is limited space, therefore it is juried. We make every effort to include each member who want to be included.
Vendor Opportunities
The Laurel Festival
We have an opportunity to be vendors at the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center. Wellsboro Art Club members can set up a booth outside or inside (limited space). There will be either no fees or a small fee for setting up. Dates are Friday June 20- Saturday June 21. More information to come.
Commissions
There two possibilities for commissioned work: 365 Fitness on Route 6 and the Patterson Trailhead Welcome Center located at 32 Fellows Ave. These will need to be confirmed and clarified and we will let you know more information as we can.
Komodo Cafe
We have rotating work at Komodo Cafe along with others non-member artists. Therefore, there is room only for one or two members’ smaller works. Because of the limited space, it is juried.
The Wellsboro Wilds Plein Air Competition
The Wellsboro Art Club hosts this annual competition. As As member, you can be a vendor outside of the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center! There is no fee for members to pop up a tent and display their creative wares for sale. You can also choose to enter the competition for a reduced price!
WAC Fund Raiser
We’re launching a new WAC fundraiser—a collaborative chess set project. Each member will select one or two pieces to embellish or recreate. The completed set will be assembled and auctioned at the WAC Show at the Gmeiner in October.
Wellsboro Equipment
Located on route 6 east of Wellsboro, Wellsboro Equipment has a vast inventory of large equipment but also a selection of fireplaces and wood burning stoves located in a warm, intimate showroom. Several of these are on display mimicking how they would appear in the home. Members may exhibit their work in the display areas.
Dickens of a Christmas
Would rather not be out in the weather as a vendor for this event? The Gmeiner is offering space indoors for vendors including Wellsboro Art Club members. For a small fee, you can be comfortable and warm!
Sales
Members may add a link to their items for sale to the shop page. There’s a possibility to add a limited number of items for sale directly from this site, as well. 30% of sales would go to the Wellsboro Art Club but we also publicize this site and our members’ activities and work.
Community Project
Each year, WAC members create handmade Valentine’s cards for local nursing home residents—a heartfelt gesture that brings connection, joy, and encouragement to those who may need it most. We invite you to join us and contribute your own card to the more than 200 we share each year.
During the Laurel Festival, The Wellsboro Art Club participates in the parade by decorating a float illustrating a a theme that represents both the club and the festival. The members will work on this collaboratively leading up to the day of the parade.
Bull Family Chiropractic
Also, on route 6 but on the west side of Wellsboro is Bull Family Chiropractic. There is an area in this office where they’d like to feature artwork created by our members.
Possibly…First Fridays
First Fridays is being reignited by the Deane Center director. This monthly summer event features music and vendors and one of them might be you! As discussions progress, we’ll keep you up to date if Wellsboro Art Club members may become vendors.
Plein Air
Members receive a discounted rate to participate in the September Plein Air Competition, which supports our scholarship for a local high school student pursuing art in college. A discount code will be provided upon request.
Laurel Festival Float
Wellsboro Art Club Art Scholarship
Through the Plein Air Competition, The Wellsboro Art Club raises funds for a scholarship that is awarded to a high school student who has been accepted into a college art program.
